Enrollment and Class Scheduling
First, you need to have already signed up for a regular weekly class: this is your “core” class, and your spot is reserved for each week.
We provide a research-based, award-winning curriculum that also requires extensive training. We specialize in development along with musicality to help your child reach their highest potential.
Yes! We know it can be hard to be active with an older child while you’re taking care of a new baby, so you can bring along the little one up through 5 months old for free. However, during these classes the baby will not be receiving educational attention, these will be for the older child. Once they’re at least 6 months, we’d like for you to enroll them in a Foundations Class or a Mixed-Age class, especially if you’re still trying to bring them around with big brother or sister.
Yes! We understand how scarry new things can be. You can sign up to try one of our classes for $10. should you decide to enroll, that $10 is then credited to your first month’s enrollment. Please click here to visit the Preview a class portion of our site, pick a day and time for an age-appropriate class for your child, and come experience the learning and fun.
Plan to arrive about 5 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. Please though do not arrive much earlier than that as we may be wrapping up another class, or preparing materials. All classes begin promptly. Occasionally, being late is difficult to avoid – please enter the classroom as quietly as possible. If you find yourself more than 15 minutes late, please contact us to schedule a makeup class so class is not disrupted.
Remember that parent/caregiver participation is a key ingredient to success in any Kindermusik program. Your commitment to regular attendance and ongoing participation with your child during class will lead to more satisfaction, sense of accomplishment and enjoyment for your child and you!
Please turn off or silence your cell phone before entering into the classroom.
Please leave juice and snacks in the car with the exception of those babies nursing or bottle feeding.
Kids (and parents) should wear comfortable clothes; we do a lot of movin’ and shakin’… We have a NO SHOES policy for parents and children, so please come prepared to go barefoot or wear socks. For the babies only, you are welcome to bring a blanket for your baby to lay on during floor activities.
Little Sunshine Music understands a parent’s possible concerns about their child being photographed, and takes its photo consent policy very seriously. At registration, each parent is able to state whether or not they consent to their child being photographed by Little Sunshine Music Studio during classes. There is no penalty for not consenting: your child and your comfort in our studio is our top priority.
A good guideline to follow is to be fever free for 24 hours, and for a nose not to be running with anything other than clear. It is VERY common for babies and toddlers to have runny noses due to teething. It is VERY hard to distinguish that from being sick. If you at all feel that your baby is under the weather, remain home and schedule a makeup class.
We follow the calendar of Chesterfield County Public Schools for holiday breaks. This means we will not meet during:
Thanksgiving Break- in November
Winter Break- December-January
Spring Break- in April
Any other dates will be announced in class and sent out in reminder emails.
Should we have bad weather(snow, ice, flooding, etc.) we will follow Chesterfield County Public Schools delay policy. If delayed 1 hour, we will have class 1 hour late. If delayed 2 hours or more, classes will be cancelled and you will follow our make up policy to account for that class.
Music is a help in neurological, physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. We ask that parents talk with their teacher so that we may learn more about your child, and together we can make a decision about how to proceed or adapt in class.
We welcome visitors to class and enjoy meeting extended family and friends. When possible, please let us know in advance so we can avoid overcrowding the classroom.
